Samsung Nixes Power2B Suit Object-Sensing Patent Claims at PTAB

Samsung Electronics Co. convinced an administrative tribunal to invalidate multiple claims of two patents protecting object and gesture sensing methods.

All challenged claims of Power2B Inc.'s US Patent Nos. 8,624,850 and 9,569,093 are invalid as obvious in light of prior teaching concerning touch sensitive devices and computing and mobile devices with displays, the Patent Trial and Appeal Board said in separate final written decisions issued March 13.

Power2B sued Samsung in December 2020 in US District Court for the Western District of Texas alleging the electronics giant’s Galaxy and Note smartphones infringed multiple patents, including the ‘093 and ‘850 patents. ...
