Samsung Must Pay $142 Million in Patent Damages Trial Redo (1)

Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. and its American subsidiary must pay $142 million for failing to license essential technologies built into its Galaxy 5G smartphones.

G+Communications LLC, a non-practicing entity, was awarded more than double the $67.5 million in damages a different federal jury had awarded the patent owner in January following a second trial to recalculate the damages, according to a verdict returned Wednesday in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Texas.
