Samsung Knocks Out Another Netlist Patent Tied to $303M Award

Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. succeeded in axing a second Netlist Inc. memory-related patent from their summer infringement trial at an administrative tribunal, strengthening the tech company’s appeal of the $303 million jury award against it.

All 30 of the claims of Netlist’s US Patent No. 11,232,054, covering a flash dram memory module, were determined to be obvious in the Patent Trial and Appeal Board’s decision issued Tuesday. An experienced engineer would be motivated to combine information disclosed in a previous patent, application, and microelectronics industry standards to arrive at the invention, the board found.
