Samsung, HP Infringed Wi-Fi Patents, South Korean Company Says

Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. and HP Inc. were hit with lawsuits from a South Korea-based research company accusing them of violating several wireless communications technology patents.

The companies willfully infringed four patents with their Wi-Fi enabled laptops and other devices, Wilus Institute of Standards and Technology Inc. said in two complaints filed Sept. 20 in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Texas. Wilus is asking for damages and a permanent injunction prohibiting Samsung, Samsung Electronics America Inc., and HP from future infringement.

Samsung and HP didn’t immediately respond to requests for comment.
