Samsung Hit With Patent Suit Over Galaxy SOS Messaging Feature

Samsung Electronics Co. infringed a data company’s patent for a phone-integrated personal protection system, according to a new federal lawsuit.

Fendgo LLC sued in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, claiming that the SOS emergency message feature on Samsung Galaxy smartphones infringes Fendgo’s patent for a smartphone panic button.

The patent claims include a mobile device comprising a camera unit, location unit, transmitting unit, and a panic button activated by a series of presses. Fendgo’s patent was issued March 1, 2022.
