Secure Wi-Fi LLC sued Samsung Electronics Co., alleging infringement of three patents by its Galaxy S23 smartphones that incorporate a randomized identification method for connecting to a wireless network while reducing the opportunity for the device to be tracked.

The Galaxy smartphone utilizes an Android operating system that features randomized media access control address assignment for Wi-Fi connections, according to the complaint filed Thursday in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Texas.
