An administrative tribunal didn’t err when it compared a Prisua Engineering Corp. video-editing patent to an allegedly dissimilar software patent and used that reference to invalidate the claims, a Federal Circuit panel ruled Friday.
In doing so, the court upheld a decision that cast a cloud over a $4.3 million verdict Prisua won in Florida federal court in 2018 after jurors found Samsung Electronics America Inc.'s “Best Face” photo-editing feature infringed US Patent No. 8,650,591.
