Samsung and Proxense Settle Phone Fingerprint Patent Lawsuit (1)

Proxense and Samsung Electronics Co. settled a patent lawsuit over whether the Korean phone maker infringed Proxense’s patented technology for authenticating biometric data like fingerprints on phones and other devices.

The companies filed a joint stipulation Thursday to dismiss the case, just days ahead of a trial set for Monday in a federal courthouse in Waco, Texas.

Proxense’s CEO John Giobbi received three patents at issue in the case—US Patent Nos. 8,352,730, 9,298,905, and 10,698,989—between 2013 and 2020.
