A Wyoming company sued mobile phone provider Mint Mobile LLC for alleged infringement of a phone-payment system patent.
The suit, filed Friday in the US District Court for the District of Delaware, says Mint, which is partially owned by actor Ryan Reynolds, ripped off US Patent No. 7,013,127, which describes a way phone customers can pay for data.
Patent owner Pay As You Go LLC accuses Mint of infringement by allowing customers to pay for blocks of mobile data “using a third-party payment service such as PayPal.”
Mint didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.
