The Russian authorities have issued a new decree aimed to contest the registration of several U.S. liquor trademarks.
The Russian federal government has officially gazetted Decree No. 69, dated Feb. 1, “On matters of liquor trademarks”. Article 2 of the decree ordered the Federal State Property Management Agency to conclude an agreement with state-owned company SoyuzPlodoImport (SPI). The agreement has been drawn up to transfer to SPI the rights of the Russian Federation concerning the STOLICHNAYA and/or STOLI trademarks in the United States and in all territories under U.S. jurisdiction.
