Royal Philips Is Latest Sued by Finnish Inventor Seeking Damages

Royal Philips NV is the latest company to be hit with a patent-infringement lawsuit by a Finnish inventor, who this time alleges in a Texas federal court that Philips’ HealthSuite cloud-based digital platform infringes two patents related to data communications systems.

Lauri Valjakka, of Lappeenranta, Finland, is seeking damages from a North American unit of the Dutch conglomerate for alleged infringement, a compulsory ongoing royalty, and orders blocking further unauthorized use of the inventions while the suit proceeds and until the patents have expired, according to a complaint filed Wednesday in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of ...
