Ross Intelligence Inc. told an appeals court that new filings by Anthropic PBC against the Defense Department confirm that finding fair use in AI training is “paramount” to national security.
Ross, appealing its loss to Thomson Reuters Enterprise Centre GmBH, told the US Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit Thursday that the government “heavily relies on AI models” that require training data. A letter to the panel framed two new Anthropic filings against the Pentagon docketed March 9, along with “recent public events,” as confirming the importance of allowing AI to train on copyrighted materials.
