Roche Drops Stanford Trade Secrets Suit, Cuts Licensing Deal

Roche Molecular Systems Inc. ended its lawsuit accusing Stanford University and three professors of misappropriating trade secrets about cancer detection technology and entered into a licensing agreement with the professors’ startup.

Judge Eumi K. Lee granted the parties’ stipulation of dismissal Tuesday, weeks after they asked the US District Court for the Northern District of California to pause the case to finalize a settlement agreement. Under the pact, Foresight Diagnostics Inc. granted Roche a limited royalty-bearing, non-exclusive sublicense of certain patents to develop diagnostic kits for Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, according to the startup’s press release.
