Roblox Sues Gamer Marketplace Over Sales of In-Game Money, Goods

Roblox Corp. said online gamer marketplace PlayerAuctions Inc. infringes its trademarks by facilitating sales of in-game assets in a California federal lawsuit.

PlayersAuctions enables third parties to sell virtual “Robux” money and goods, player accounts, and other related services that can all be used on its online platform, the Tuesday complaint in the US District Court for the Northern District of California said.

The use of “Roblox” and “Robux” trademarks falsely suggests the game company approves of the sales of goods—often at prices significantly lower than what Roblox charges—the complaint said.
