Roblox Corp. reached an agreement over alleged ripoffs of the online gaming platform’s avatars less than a month before a copyright trial.
Roblox had accused Hong Kong-based WowWee Ltd. of creating infringing “MyAvstars” dolls and metaverse code in its US District Court for the Northern District of California lawsuit. Judge Susan Illston trimmed the suit in a pair of rulings but allowed some copyright and trade dress claims to move forward, with trial set for Dec. 2.
The case was dismissed Tuesday after Roblox filed a voluntary dismissal motion noting a “confidential settlement agreement” Friday.
