Rite Aid’s Rebranding Uses Unlicensed Typeface, Lawsuit Alleges

Rite Aid Corp. is facing claims in a Pennsylvania federal court that the pharmacy’s $700 million rebranding project uses a proprietary font called Neutraface in its new logo without authorization.

House Industries, a design company that develops custom fonts for clients including The New Yorker and Jimmy Kimmel, created the Neutraface typeface, which the company said is valued for its “clean architectural lines.” The company licenses the font under specific terms detailing how it can be used.
