RideCo Owes $1.4 Million in Via Transportation Patent Suit (2)

RideCo Inc. owes Via Transportation Inc. $1.4 million for infringing patents and copying its on-demand transportation software.

RideCo Inc. infringed US Patent Nos. 9,562,785; 9,816,824 and 10,197,411 a federal jury determined Thursday in the US District Court for the Western District of Texas. The verdict stated Via didn’t infringe RideCo’s US Patent Nos. 10,248,913 and 10,853,743.

The jury also determined Via didn’t prove RideCo’s patents were invalid.

Erin Abrams, Via’s chief legal officer, said in an emailed statement the company is grateful for the jury acknowledging the value of Via’s virtual bus stop technology.
