Ricoh Cleared of Infringing Sports Group’s Printer Patents

Ricoh USA Inc. doesn’t infringe various patents related to printer technology, a federal judge ruled, handing the manufacturer a win in a suit brought by a Nebraska youth sports group.

Judge Joshua Wolson in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania said there wasn’t enough evidence to support Midwest Athletics and Sports Alliance LLC’s infringement allegations. Wolson granted Ricoh judgment.

Midwest provides equipment and other services to youth sports groups and owns numerous patents on printer technology. Midwest initially accused Ricoh of infringing 19 patents, but the dispute was later narrowed to five patents.
