Reuters Gets Spanish Photographer’s US Copyright Suit Tossed

Reuters News & Media Co. convinced a New York federal judge to throw out a photographer’s copyright-infringement suit in favor of a parallel action in Spain.

Spain is a more favorable forum for Rafael Marchante’s claims because analyzing the validity and termination of his royalty agreement with Reuters will require the application of Spanish law, Judge Dale E. Ho of the US District Court for the Southern District of New York said in an opinion issued June 7.
