Restoration Hardware Wins Order to Disable Knockoff Retail Sites

Restoration Hardware Inc. won a federal court order to temporarily disable the websites and freeze asset accounts of several Chinese companies that it accuses of selling lighting fixture knockoffs.

The US District Court for the Northern District of California granted the order for a preliminary injunction Tuesday after none of the 22 defendants filed any response to Restoration Hardware’s request.

Restoration Hardware is likely to succeed on the merits of its copyright and trademark claims, Judge Haywood S. Gilliam Jr. said, because the defendants appeared to be “flagrantly copying and publicly displaying numerous RH copyrighted works” online.
