ResMed Wins Invalidation of Sleep Apnea Tech Patent After Remand

ResMed Corp. convinced a US Patent and Trademark Office tribunal to invalidate a Cleveland Medical Devices Inc. patent covering technology to treat sleep disorders after then-Director Kathi Vidal revived the challenge in 2023.

The medical equipment company demonstrated Cleveland Medical’s US Patent No. 10,076,269 is obvious in light of a prior patent, patent applications, and academic articles, according to a decision issued May 2 by the Patent Trial and Appeal Board.
