‘Shark Tank’ Contender’s IP Suit Sunk by ‘Reprehensible’ Conduct

A federal judge tossed patent and trade dress infringement claims against Luv n’ Care Ltd., finding the maker of a children’s tableware featured on “Shark Tank” engaged in “reprehensible” conduct during the case.

Luv n’ Care sued Eazy-PZ LLC and its founder, Lindsey Laurain, in 2016, alleging a “campaign of threats, intimidation” and false accusations that Luv n’ Care copied the tableware. Eazy-PZ responded with numerous claims, including patent and trade dress infringement.

Judge Terry Doughty in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Louisiana found Eazy-PZ couldn’t recover on its claims under the doctrine of unclean hands. ...
