A federal judge tentatively granted Reddit Inc.'s request to transfer its lawsuit accusing Anthropic PBC of illicitly scraping content for AI training back to California state court.
Reddit’s allegations that Anthropic breached its rules and exploited social media users’ personal data without their consent distinguish the claims from copyright violations that would be precluded by federal law, Judge Trina L. Thompson said Friday in the tentative order.
A hearing on the issue is scheduled for March 24 in the US District Court for the Northern District of California.
