Record Labels Ask to Add ‘Stream Ripping’ Claim in AI Music Suit

Record labels suing AI-music generator Suno Inc. are seeking permission to amend their copyright complaint to add accusations the company engaged in music piracy to access and download songs it used to train its models.

Suno bypassed a technological measure employed by YouTube Inc. to prevent unauthorized downloads of songs streamed on its platform, the labels said in a partially redacted motion to amend their complaint filed Sept. 19 in the US District Court for the District of Massachusetts.
