Ramey Escapes BlackBerry Legal Fees in Bad Faith Patent Suit (1)

A prolific patent attorney convinced a Texas federal judge he shouldn’t be on the hook to pay BlackBerry Corp. a share of nearly $600,000 in attorneys’ fees after the court previously ruled the suit was filed in bad faith.

Judge Alan Albright amended his September 2024 ruling and denied BlackBerry’s request to hold William P. Ramey jointly liable in his client Silent Communications LLC’s case, according to an order filed Thursday in the US District Court for the Western District of Texas.
