Railware Sues SEPTA Over Worker-Safety Traffic Control Patents

The Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority was hit with a federal lawsuit alleging its train-traffic control systems infringe three patents for railworker-safety technology Railware Inc. asserted in a case against Amtrak settled less than two weeks ago.

SEPTA operates a regional mass-transit system’s tracks using products such as Wabtec Corp.’s RailwayNet and Advanced Information Management platform that incorporate Railware’s patented technology without authorization, according to a complaint filed Monday in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.
