A Queens, New York-based film festival sued a similarly named upstart, alleging trademark infringement and other claims.
Queens World Film Festival Inc. has used the “Queens World Film Festival” trademark for more than 15 years to conduct a film festival in the borough, according to a complaint filed Thursday in the US District Court for the Eastern District of New York. It said Queens Film Festival Inc. recently began using the name “Queens Film Festival” for a competing film festival, causing marketplace confusion.
