Purple Innovation Sues Intellibed Over Gel Matrix Mattresses

Purple Innovations claims Advanced Comfort Technologies, better known as Intellibed, has copied technology and a trademark for a gel-based mattress sold at Mattress Firm stores, including Sleepy’s.

• In a complaint filed Thursday in federal court in Salt Lake City, Purple accuses Intellibed of patent-infringement, trademark-infringement, theft of trade secrets and unfair competition
• Purple also asks a court to determine the rights of each side under the terms of a contract between Intellibed and EdiZone, which is owned by Purple’s founders and owns the trademarks, patents and secrets
