Purdue University, ‘Aware’ of Invalidity, Drops Google Suit (1)

Alphabet Inc.’s Google won’t face infringement allegations over a Purdue Research Foundation patent for a way to address apps’ power bugs that drain energy from devices, as the university’s licensing arm said it’s decided to disclaim the patent and dropped the case.

Google LLC and Purdue agreed that, “in light of PRF’s decision to disclaim the patent,” its allegations “should be dismissed with prejudice,” according to a joint stipulation of dismissal filed Monday in the US District Court for the Northern District of California.
