Puma Sues Brooks Over ‘Nitro’ Trademark, Running Shoe Patent (1)

Puma SE alleged that certain Brooks Sports Inc. running shoes unlawfully use the “Nitro” trademark and infringe a design patent for running shoes with a “bulbous” sole, according to a lawsuit filed in Indiana federal court.

The German shoe company first discovered Brooks using the Nitro mark to advertise running shoes at a Texas trade show in November 2021, and Brooks has allegedly expanded an advertising campaign featuring the mark through its website and social media, the July 8 complaint said.
