The Patent and Trademark Office is considering whether to drop, revise or maintain a 2013 policy on standard essential patents following the Justice Department’s decision to drop the agreement late last year, the PTO’s director said.
Andrei Iancu told intellectual property leaders gathered for the World Leadership IP 2019 forum in Washington March 26 that the PTO “will attend to the issue” of whether to withdraw from the policy after assessing its “impact on industry.”
