A Patent and Trademark Office tribunal agreed to review two Nike Inc. soccer shoe patents, handing a victory to Puma North America Inc. as it faces an infringement suit.
The Patent Trial and Appeal Board Oct. 31 said it would take up Puma’s bids against patents that cover shoes designed to reduce injury from rolled ankles and a supportive mesh panel that blocks air and moisture. Nike had sued Puma for allegedly infringing the patents.
