Proxense’s Biometric Tech Suit Against Apple Sheds Two Patents

Proxense LLC received permission to drop two patents from its lawsuit against Apple Inc. concerning biometric authentication for logging into devices and sending electronic payments.

The court granted Proxense’s request to dismiss infringement allegations involving the US Patent Nos. 9,298,905 and 9,049,188 with prejudice, according to an order filed Wednesday in the US District Court for the Western District of Texas. Proxense amended its complaint in October to shed claims related to the two patents, leaving five others in the suit..
