Projector Company Accuses Patent Owner of ‘Gamesmanship’ in Suit

The US unit of Taiwanese video projector company Optoma Corp. sued Japanese competitor Maxell Ltd., accusing it of sharp-elbowed tactics in a patent suit Maxell filed earlier this year.

Optoma Technology Inc., which also goes by Optoma USA, sued Maxell in the US District Court for the Northern District of California Tuesday, seeking declarations that several of its lines of projector products don’t infringe a trio of Maxell patents—US Patent Nos. 7,159,988; 9,565,388; and 9,900,569.
