Privacy Lawsuit Over Google Assistant Spurs Mass Arbitration Bid

Google LLC and parent Alphabet Inc. lost their attempt to prevent a mass arbitration bid stemming from a class action alleging that Google Assistant technology intercepts users’ private conversations without consent.

Google’s motion asking the court to reject a request by more than 69,000 claimants seeking to be excluded from a class suit in order to pursue their claims against the company in individual arbitration was denied by Judge Beth Labson Freeman of the US District Court for the Northern District of California on Feb. 14.
