Principal Financial Sues Real Estate Firm Over ‘Principal’ Name

Principal Financial Services Inc. accused a St. Louis real estate firm that also uses the “Principal” name of infringing its trademarks in St. Louis federal court Wednesday.

Principal Financial is one of the “oldest and most respected” providers of investment, real estate, and other financial services, according to its complaint in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri.

It says it owns a family of “Principal” trademarks including “Principal” by itself, “Principal Financial Group,” and “Principal Real Estate Investors,” among others.
