A prefabricated building manufacturer sued its competitor alleging it sold counterfeit products by hiring Google to manipulate its online search results.
Porta-Fab Corp. filed its complaint Tuesday in the US District Court for the Central District of California, accusing Allied Modular Business Systems of violating its trademark by mislabeling its products online to look like Porta-Fab’s. Google was not named as a defendant in the case.
“Through the internet, and through its internet ads and search results, Allied masqueraded as Porta-Fab and Allied offered and sold goods as counterfeit Porta-Fab goods,” the complaint said.
