Pinterest Beats Copyright Class Action Targeting Notifications

Pinterest Inc. defeated a photographer’s attempt to hold it liable for infringing copyrights in notifications outside the platform, as a judge found it’s protected by a safe-harbor provision in US copyright law.

Pinterest isn’t heavily involved in manipulating and editing user-uploaded content on its platform and is otherwise compliant with the requirements for safe harbor under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, Judge Edward J. Davila said in a Monday order granting the platform summary judgment.
