Philips Revives Wireless Patent Axed in Administrative Trial

The Federal Circuit revived a Philips cellular communications patent the company had asserted against several telecoms.

The Patent Trial and Appeal Board’s analysis finding US Patent No. 8,195,216 invalid as obvious “was too conclusory and did not address an argument timely raised” by Philips, the US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit wrote in a Thursday opinion sending the case back to the tribunal for further review.
