Tobacco company Philip Morris International Inc. knocked out a Scandinavian Tobacco Group A/S’s Danish trademark registration for a triangle logo similar to one on Marlboro cigarette packages.
There was enough likelihood of confusion between the logos based on how well-known the Marlboro trademark was in the European Union, Denmark’s Maritime and Commercial Court ruled Jan. 19 in reversing a decision from Denmark’s trademark appeal board.
