Pfizer’s Wyeth, Puma Biotech Sue Astra for Tagrisso Royalties

Pfizer’s Wyeth and Puma Biotechnology asked a federal court to block U.S. sales of AstraZeneca’s blockbuster Tagrisso, claiming in a lawsuit that the drug infringes two patents for treating lung cancers that are resistant to certain therapies.

  • Pfizer and Puma are seeking cash compensation of a reasonable royalty and court order blocking sales of Tagrisso until patents have expired, according to complaint filed Wednesday in federal court in Wilmington, Delaware
  • Tagrisso was Astra’s best-seller in 2020, complaint says, with U.S. sales of $1.566 billion
