Pfizer Sues Natco to Block Copies of Ibrance Tablets Until 2036

Pfizer said Natco’s proposed generic version of Ibrance tablets would infringe its patent related to the blockbuster cancer treatment that expires in May 2036.

  • Pfizer is seeking court order blocking copies until the patent expires, according to a complaint filed Tuesday in federal court in Wilmington, Delaware
  • Patent, issued July 20, covers tablet formulation of palbociclib, Ibrance’s active ingredient, according to the complaint
    • Expires in May 2036; FDA Orange Book lists four other Ibrance patents covering tablet dosages, the latest of which expires in February 2034
