Pfizer Sues Competitors to Block Seven Copies of Migraine Drug

Pfizer Inc. filed seven federal lawsuits alleging that copies of Nurtec ODT proposed by Aurobindo Pharma Ltd., Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd., and five other generic-drug makers infringe as many as three patents for the near-blockbuster migraine treatment.

All seven complaints allege infringement of US Patent No. 11,083,724 and were filed Thursday in the US District Court for the District of Delaware. The patent covers the composition of a salt form of rimegepant, which reduces the severity of migraines by blocking a bodily substance that can cause blood vessels to dilate, according to the complaints.
