Pfizer Sues Apotex to Block Generic Versions of Chantix Pills

Pfizer said Apotex’s proposed generic version of Chantix infringes two patents for the smoking-cessation tablets.

  • Pfizer is seeking court order blocking copies until patents have expired and cash compensation if copies are made before then, according to complaint filed Thursday in federal court in Wilmington, Delaware
  • First and only FDA-approved generic version of Chantix in the U.S. was launched Sept. 22 by Endo
