Pfizer Defends $108 Million Verdict on AstraZeneca’s Tagrisso

Pfizer Inc.’s Wyeth LLC urged a federal judge in Delaware to reject AstraZeneca Plc’s request for a new trial after a jury awarded $107.5 million upon finding the blockbuster cancer drug Tagrisso infringes two patents for Pfizer’s competing Vizimpro.

Substantial evidence supports jurors’ findings in their “carefully considered” May 17 verdict that Tagrisso infringes US Patent Nos. 10,603,314 and 10,596,162 and that the patents aren’t invalid, as well as the damages award, according to Wyeth’s opposition brief filed June 28 in the US District Court for the District of Delaware.
