Perplexity AI Inc. hit back at a lawsuit over a “perplexity” trademark, calling a Texas-based software company’s infringement claims against it a “thinly-veiled attempt to parlay a fraudulently obtained trademark registration” into a windfall.
Perplexity Solved Solutions Inc.'s trademark should be canceled because the company submitted a fake example of the mark in use to the US Patent and Trademark Office, and abandoned the mark’s leaf logo to “manufacture the impression that it was an established AI-powered business,” according to an answer and counterclaims filed Wednesday in the US District Court for the Northern District of California.
