Perlmutter Asks for Copyright Office Job Back During Appeal

Shira Perlmutter asked the D.C. Circuit to restore her position leading the US Copyright Office during her appeal of a district court that’s twice refused to do so.

President Donald Trump illegally fired her and named a Department of Justice official to replace her former boss amid the administration’s “attempted takeover” of the Library of Congress, Perlmutter told the US Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia. She argued that she’d likely win on the merits, would suffer irreparable harm without an injunction, and that the public interest compels an injunction during the appeal.
