PeriRx Inc. was sanctioned in a patent licensing suit against the University of California system, after a Pennsylvania federal court found the oral diagnostic company made false allegations when it sued.
Judge Joshua Wolson in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania said PeriRx must reimburse the Regents of the University of California for certain costs and attorneys’ fees spent pursuing a “false claim” that PeriRx made about negotiations with another university.
Wolson also formally reprimanded two PeriRx attorneys for advancing “frivolous facts and legal arguments at various times throughout this case.”
