Penn Suit Alleges Education Companies Violate Wharton Trademark

The University of Pennsylvania filed trademark infringement claims against education companies CredForce America Inc. and Edvantic Inc., alleging the companies continue to use the Wharton name after breaching a contract with the college, according to its complaint filed in federal court.

The suit alleges CredForce failed to pay outstanding invoices it owed the school under a contract to market Wharton executive education programs, but continued to solicit participants for the Wharton program and later transferred all materials related to Penn’s programs to Edvantic.
