Penn Dodges Single Claim in Gene-Therapy Scientist’s Patent Suit

The University of Pennsylvania convinced a federal judge to trim only one claim from a gene-therapy researcher’s lawsuit alleging it violated laws and its own policy by licensing a patent application listing her as an inventor without notifying or compensating her.

Judge John Murphy dismissed scientist Susan Faust’s claim accusing the Penn of violating the state’s wage payment law in a Tuesday opinion filed in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.
